Upgrade Your Creative Studio: Black Friday Buys for Illustrators and Visual Artists

5 game-changing gear recs — tested by me! — to streamline your creative workflow and make content creation smoother without overwhelming your workspace or your budget.

Hey Content Support Groupies 👋

It’s been a minute since you heard from me, but as an enthusiastic couponer, I wanted to send out a few gear and tool recommendations to keep an eye on this week.

I know you’re already being bombarded by Black Friday deals —and I don’t want to make you feel like you NEED any of this stuff— it’s more so that I often get asked questions about my gear and now is a good time to upgrade your tools while getting a little discount.

Plus, if you’re anything like me, you’re looking for some last minute business expenses!

I use this a lot in my Reels when I want to show the process of working on my iPad. I think it’s super eye-catching in my videos while also being really practical to reduce neck strain while drawing traditionally or digitally. The best part is that it’s pretty compact so you can put it away in a closet pretty easily.

If you need a little help with time management, this little Pomodoro timer can really do the trick! It’s cute, simple to use, and a good price. Plus, it doubles as a clock when you’re not using it as a timer. I really like it and have kept it on my desk since buying it over a year ago!

I haven’t shared this anywhere yet, but if your work space is really dark (especially in the winter) I’ve really been liking using this lamp. I recently recorded some sponsored content and it really helped my space look nice and bright. The temperature controls are great because it has a daylight setting that really matches the light coming in from my window, so my white balance is relatively even throughout my room. The head swivels 360 as well as the angle of the light itself, so it’s just a really cool lamp that doubles as a content lamp without being ugly. I’m literally thinking of getting another, I think I’d be able to record at night if I had two lol! It also comes with a handy remote.

If your monitor is kinda ugly and ruining your desk #aesethic for videos, this monitor arm is affordable and really sturdy! If you have a monitor under 32” that isn’t very heavy, I would go with this one for $40. If your monitor is a little heavier or expensive, get this one which is a bit more heavy duty (all metal) so your monitor is safe. I tried both, and both are really easy to set up all things considered and not only made my desk look nicer, but also just gave me more desk space too! Comes in white, baby blue, baby pink, matcha, etc — all really cute!

I’m not exaggerating when I say that this phone holder has really helped me reduce my screen time! When I’m working I dock my phone on it and totally forget about it. If you haven’t used a docking charger like this before, it’s great because when your phone is horizontal it displays the time and your music or calendar. It’s like a new customizable screen on your phone that you can make a lot more distraction free.

*Remember to buy a magsafe charger to go with it if you don’t already have one, it doesn’t come with one!

Alright! Those are just 5 of my current faves that I would recommend picking up while they’re on sale. If you want more specific recs on monitors, cameras, mics, lighting, and so much more, then pop on over to my Amazon storefront.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for there — DM me! I love to talk about gear and help you find exactly what you need at the right price!

THIS WEEK’S GROUP ASSIGNMENT:

Make Your Own Gift Guide!

The Assignment: Think of all the supplies you frequently use and get questions about, and turn it into a fun gift guide for your followers.

How To:
1. Round-up 1 to 5 of your favorite products!
2. Make a collage out of the items using Adobe Express, Canva, or even Procreate.
3. Share an image carousel of your gift guide on Instagram, TikTok, or even Threads. If you’re not into hard posting — you can share it in your stories with links!

Pro Tip: If you haven’t already, sign up for Amazon Influencers or Like To Know It to generate affiliate links so you can earn a small commission for recommending certain products. Who knows if your followers will use your link, but it’s a small way they can support you for sharing your faves!

Inspo: Here’s the Gift Guide I put together last year, in case you need inspo! I’m planning to share this year’s gift guide later this week 😄

🛠️ TOOLS THAT HELP 🛠️

🛍️ RAKUTEN 🛍️

This isn’t a tool that will help you create content, but if you’re shopping online this holiday season you neeeeeeed to be using Rakuten!

Rakuten will give you a % cash back for shopping “through” their website! I’ve made over $400 in cashback that gets deposited directly to my paypal. It’s AWESOME! If you shop on a desktop, you can add the Chrome extension and it’ll let you activate the cashback reward on any website you’re on, so you never miss out on your cashback.

If you make an account and make your first purchase, you’ll get an instant $40 in your account — and so will I for referring you 😜 Anyway, I know it sounds fake but again — I love getting a deal and I want you to too!

@THISCOULDBEYOU

If you end up sharing a gift guide, tag me and I’ll feature my favorite post in next week’s newsletter! Really want to see what you end up making.

I hope you like this new format featuring one tip, a content prompt, a new resource, and a subscriber spotlight! I figured that instead of sharing a bunch of trending audios that can feel overwhelming, this was less overwhelming and would allow me to really help you create your next post.

If there’s anything you need help with when it comes to creating content about your artwork or creative practice, send me a DM on IG!
