Instagram Broadcast Channels: The Underrated Feature You Should Consider for Your Art Business

A low-stakes way to build community and test content ideas!

Hey Content Support Groupies 👋

For today’s Content Creation Support Group session, I want to talk about an underrated feature on Instagram: Broadcast Channels. Not Stories, Not Reels, but Broadcast Channels.

Instagram recently announced new features to Broadcast Channels, which made me think they might be working for some artists out there. I mean why else would they invest time into adding new features? It’s a theory.

If you’re not familiar with IG Channels, they’re basically quasi-group chats that you can “host” and anyone who follows you can join. They appear in your profile right under your bio and the chat log of the Channel stay in place, it doesn’t disappear like in Stories. I know you might be already overwhelmed thinking about another thing on Instagram to update, but I would argue that this one is extremely low-stakes. I’m in a few channels and I don’t expect mind blowing conversations or updates there, more so just a few extra tidbits from those I follow.

So What’s Cool About IG Broadcast Channels?

  • There’s no algorithm! Once someone joins, they can check and see ALL your messages and replies. You just want to make sure you make it good enough to want to check frequently!
